mountainology.pro is run by Chris Marden who has been hillwalking, mountaineering, ski touring, and rock and ice climbing, for more than 30 years. Most of this has been in the Scottish Highlands, but his experience also includes trips to the European Alps, Pyrenees, Norway, Iceland, Canada, Indian Himalaya, Karakoram, and the Andes. H
mountainology.pro is run by Chris Marden who has been hillwalking, mountaineering, ski touring, and rock and ice climbing, for more than 30 years. Most of this has been in the Scottish Highlands, but his experience also includes trips to the European Alps, Pyrenees, Norway, Iceland, Canada, Indian Himalaya, Karakoram, and the Andes. He completed the Munros in 1997, and has kept going! Chris has a degree in Geography, and a PhD based on research into past climate and glacier change at Torres del Paine in Patagonia – quite an office! After a career working in an energy company, specialising in Renewable Energy and Environmental Management, Chris moved full time to mountainology.pro in 2021.

Qualifications
Chris holds the Summer Mountain Leader and Winter Mountain Leader Awards, and a current Outdoor First Aid Certificate. He is a member of the Mountain Training Association and a Mountain Rescue Team volunteer.
